In an interview with People, the
51-year-old actress talked about the little girl from Louisiana, who she
previously fostered. She is now sister to five-year-old Louis, adopted
in 2010 from New Orleans.
‘When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in
my mind that she was supposed to be here,’ she told the publication,
which comes out on Friday.
I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time. Louis spearheaded this whole journey.
I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,’
The devoted parent also told the magazine
the process felt very much like witness protection, fearing that the
adoption would be jeopardised by the fact that she’s a huge star.
RadarOnline.com previously reported the
Oscar-winning star of The Blind Side had a new infant daughter back in
October, but the actress seemed to deny the claim – as she had in fact
only fostered Laila at this point.
Following reports that she had welcomed a
baby daughter into her home, she said ‘everyone would be hearing about
it,’ had she done so.
However the mother-of-one chose her words
very carefully – leaving the impression that an adoption would not be
out of the question.
‘There’s only one adopted child in my
household and his name is Louis,’ she told Associate Press, referring to
her five-year-old son.
‘If I had a second adopted child, everyone
would be hearing about it. I would be loud and clear. And say, “Yes, I
have officially adopted a second child.” Right now, Louis must be it.’
The news comes after it was claimed that
her new boyfriend, model and photographer Bryan Randall has ‘moved into’
her Beverly Hills home.
An unnamed source quoted by
RadarOnline.com revealed the movie star had made it ‘quite clear to
Bryan from the start that she’s looking for a husband to raise kids
with.’
The couple are said to have been dating for several months before they went public with their romance in August.
In early September, Bryan, 49, joined
Sandra on a double date with Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux at
Sandra’s restaurant in Austin, Texas.
The Blind Side star was previously married
to motorbike customizer Jesse James but split from him in 2010 after
five years of marriage following public revelations he had cheated on
her with other women.
Though he acknowledges the eventual
divorce was because of his actions, Jesse, 46, is still bitter about
‘losing’ Louis whom, he said, the couple had started the process to
adopt just before their split.
According to US Weekly, the West Coast Choppers owner Jesse James, 46, blames ‘Hollywood Law’ for the loss of custody.
‘I got divorced and lost a kid I adopted
because of it. Whether that’s fair, whether I should have lost a kid due
to infidelity, which I don’t think anybody ever does. But I think with
‘Hollywood Law’ that’s totally fair,’ he told Us Weekly.
He seemed to suggest that had Sandra
Bullock not been of the Hollywood A-list, the adoption of Louis would
have proceeded more equitably and continued to include Jesse as the
father.
When the couple separated, Sandra decided
to continue the adoption by herself, becoming the sole parent of little
Louis, who is now five years old.
