M.I Abaga sues American rapper Nas after paying him N18million for a rap verse

M.I Abaga slams N18million lawsuit against American rapper Nas

M.I Abaga has taken popular American rapper Nas to court

He is suing his American colleague because he failed to deliver a rap verse for a song

This was after M.I paid him $50,000 (N18million)

News reaching NAIJ.com indicates that Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga has taken his American counterpart Nas to court after the latter failed to deliver a rap verse for a song.

M.I and his record label Chocolate City filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court claiming Nas didn't deliver the rap verse they wanted.

Nas and Mass Appeal Records' Ronnie Goodman are accused of duping Chocolate City after they had paid the rapper $50,000 for the verse Pulse reports.

In 2013, Nas and Goodman signed an agreement to contribute a verse to a track from M.I. The details of the deal were that Nas was supposed to mention "M.I, Chocolate City, Nigeria, Queens, New York—NAS's hometown—, Mandela, Trayvon Martin, and the struggles of Africans and African Americans" in his verse for the song.

Nas did deliver a verse but it didn't mention any of the subject matter Chocolate City had asked for.

Obviously not satisfied, C City asked Nas to re-record the verse. Strangely, three years later, it hasn’t happened despite them delivering the $50,000 payment Nas asked for.

According to documents in the lawsuit, Chocolate City is very complementary to Nas. They referred to him as "a highly respected lyricist in the music industry," hence their desire to work with him.
Unfortunately, that talent and lyricism was not evident in the verse they got.

As soon as more details are available on this case, NAIJ will bring it to your attention. naij
