MTN established itself as the best promoter of the Nigerian Music industry, last week, when its brand ambassadors stole the show, by winning not less than six awards, at Nigeria’s biggest indigenous awards ceremony; the Headies Awards 2013. The event was held at the prestigeous Oriental Hotels, in Lagos, on Thursdays. In recognition of their hard-work and contribution to the music industry, in the year under review, Davido, Iyanya, Praiz, and KCEE were rewarded in different categories, for their extraordinary talents, at the foremost musical award.

Davido bagged two awards for Best R & B/ Pop Album and Hip Hop World Revelation, as a reward for his successful album, entitled O.B.O. Asides that, the talented artiste recorded overwhelming sales and downloads on MTN Callertunez.

KCEE, another MTN ambassador, won the award for Song of the Year for ‘Limpopo’, a song that was regarded as an instant hit, a couple of weeks after it was released.

MTN Project Fame graduates were also given a well-deserved recognition at the award ceremony. Both Iyanya and Praiz won the awards for Artiste of the Year and Best Vocal Performance respectively. The awards are symbolic of the continuous dominance of the talent-hunt platform, as Nigeria’s most productive TV reality show and musical academy.

Meanwhile, MTN-sponsored the award for the Best Downloaded Callertune of the Year, won by Harrysong, for his tribute song written to celebrate late Nelson Mandela, who was laid to rest earlier this month. The song entitled ‘Mandela’ had over a million downloads within 48 hours of its  release on the MTN callertunez platform to confirm the brand’s commitment to assisting artistes in maximizing their gains and curbing piracy by providing a viable electronic distribution channels for original work. In recognition of his ingenuity, he will be at the Grammy Awards, courtesy of MTN.

MTN had a great 2013. Considering the rate of concerts and the number of attendance during its events, the brand’s recognition could not have come at a better time.

For instance, MTN ‘Loud in Naija’, which held across six cities, distributed along the major geopolitical zones of Nigeria, succeeded in entertaining not less than 5 million Nigerians in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ilorin and Owerri where the brand’s superstars like Davido, Wizkid, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage, Don Jazzy, Chidinma, Sound Sultan, Banky W., Jaywon, Waconzy and many more featured.  The achievement recorded in 2013 is a mirror of what the company has in stock for its customers in 2014.
