“Mr. BETRAM OLUSEGUN BUCKNOR, better known as SEGUN BUCKNOR, passed away, in Lagos, in the early hours of today. He was my friend and brother of more than 50 years.

A multi-talented artiste, Segun was a world-class musician (pianist/keyboardist, guitarist, singer, recording artiste and bandleader). He was a co-founder of THE SOUL ASSEMBLY and SEGUN BUCKNOR AND THE ASSEMBLY. I was the drummer in the two groups.

He was a very good writer (columnist for LAGOS LIFE newspaper from the Guardian stable) ... I edited the title. He was also a contributing editor for my magazine, PHOTONEWS.

I am very sad. May his soul rest in peace.”
