MTN Project Fame Season 6 storm Abuja, Benin with auditions

Excitement is already brewing in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja and one of the nation’s historical and cultural kingdoms, Benin, as the MTN Project Fame West Africa season six holds its auditions in the two cities on June 8, 2013.
The auditions which will take place simultaneously at the National Centre for Women Development, Abuja, and Constantial Hotel in Benin, have been scheduled to discover the next set of  musical talents in Nigeria which the MTN Project Fame West Africa is known for.
It is on record that in just five years, the musical reality show has produced musical stars, who not only performed brilliantly at the academy but have gone ahead to become household names in Africa and beyond. Notable among these big names are the ‘kukere’ crooner, Iyanya, Chidimma, Praize, Kesse in Ghana, and Musulyn in Liberia. These superstars have garnered personal accolades and awards in recognition of their extraordinary musical performances. The awards include: Headies, West Africa’s biggest music award and KORA, the continent’s biggest musical recognition award, won by Iyanya and Chidimma, respectively.

Tunji Adebakin, the director of the musical academy, put the super-stardom attained by these musical talents in proper perspective. According to him, ‘MTN Project Fame West Africa is not just about the monetary rewards, it’s about the music lessons that the contestants received, coupled with the exposure to highly-rated musical directors, musicians and the extraordinary ‘can-do spirit’ of MTN to make sure each of its project impacts lives’. He added that, ‘all these account for the rise of most of MTN Project Fame’s academy graduates, after the show’.
The MTN Project Fame West Africa is structured to discover and nurture the sub region’s youths who are talented in music. Kola Oyeyemi, the General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN, affirms thus: ‘Music correctly taps into their passion points, hence the need to provide them with world-class cutting edge music property that meets the needs and aspirations of this dynamic segment’.
More than just a talent competition, MTN Project Fame West Africa allows viewers a unique opportunity to follow on day by day, the behind-the-scene progress of the contestants in their quest for fame. The contestants will also be given the opportunity to meet and perform alongside their favourite stars who will be conducting exclusive master-classes, sharing their wisdom and tips for success.
