FAMILY DRAMA! Man beats mother-in-law to coma …For putting tribal marks on his children

A Lagos based business man Mr. Ayo Adeneye has been arraigned in a Customary court for beating his 72-year old mother-in-law to coma.
The 47 year old who described himself as just a business man told the courtroom that he came back to meet his three children with marks on their bodies with their grandmother Mrs. Mary Alake claiming it was just for medicinal purposes.
Ayo Adeneye who recounted the events of Saturday March 16 to the court, told the court how he came back from work to surprisingly meet his children at their Ilupeju residence with huge tribal marks on the chest region of their bodies. “I and my wife have three children, the first one is away in Secondary school, while I have two at home, Borokini and Temi. I came back home to meet the children I left with my mother-in-law with razor marks on their bodies,” he revealed to the court.
The Ondo State-born Mr. Ayo further revealed to the court that with his wife away, he approached his mother-in-law for explanations for her actions but she refused to be apologetic instead insisting that she was right to do anything she wishes to her grandchildren.  “I met my kids in their room sleeping and I noticed some unusual marks on their bodies. I woke them up and they told me it was their grandmother that put the marks on their bodies. I went to the sitting room to ask her why she did that, but she refused to give me any answer,” Ayo narrated to the court.
According to Ayo, his wife instructed him to tell her mother to prepare to leave for Ibadan the following day, that news didn’t go down well with the mother-in-law. “My wife called and asked me to inform her mother that she would be leaving the following day, because we were already fed up with her antics since she visited. She started insulting me and attacked me with a razor blade, which led to me hitting her.
Ayo however went a step too far with the tussle, as her mother-in-law eventually ended up in an Ikeja based private clinic from the injuries sustained from the fight.
Representing the petitioner, Barrister Frank Ashaga however insisted that his client Mrs. Mary Alake carried out the act based on the medical conditions of the children. “She was alone at the house with the children who were not feeling fine and she had to help the only way she knew best” the lawyer told the court.
Also speaking to the court, Mrs. Bosede Adeneye who supported her husband revealed that her mother Mrs. Alake visited the couple without their consent. “She has not being in good terms with us for a long time and suddenly she called us that she was visiting, I really don’t know why she visited,” she revealed to the court.
The case has however been postponed pending the availability of the petitioner, Mrs. Alake.
