To join
in the call for free and fair elections in 2015, Nigerian music icon Tuface
Idibia and some other artistes recently took a campaign themed “Vote Not Fight”
to the Ikeja City Mall, where they signed autographs, entertained customers and
danced with those present.
Tuface
who spoke to journalists during the campaign explained to SHOWBIZPLUSng that the
initiative was strictly to ensure free and fair elections in 2015, adding that
they want a peaceful nation post 2015 elections.
“I chose
Ikeja City Mall for this campaign because many young people patronize this
place. If you want to pass a message across to people, particularly young
people, a shopping mall like this, is one place you can do that successfully.
Therefore, the campaign for ‘vote not fight’ is basically to talk to the youths
to shun violence in the forthcoming elections,’’ he said.
Using the
opportunity to encourage youths to desist from trouble and embrace the
principles of free and fair elections come 2015, he noted that the turnout of
young people who were at the mall to welcome him was impressive as he added
that the response was an indication that people want peace.
“They
want a free and fair election because they are tired of politicians using them
to cause violence and neglecting them when they get into power,’’ he declared.
Some lucky shoppers however went home with Infinix smart phones, bottles of Hennessey, souvenirs, dog tags, spinet cards, complimentary movie tickets from Silverbird and some of Tuface's hit CDs.
Interestingly,
some were also given the opportunity to sing any of his songs and equally went
home with Infinix Zero smart phone, Digifon Speaker, Hennessey bag packs,
BlackBrotherBaby face cap and N5, 000 cash prize after dancing.
While screaming
in excitement, one of the winners, Vivian Osagie gushed: "I have always
looked up to a day like this. I met Tuface one on one and had selfie with him,
I also sang one of his songs and I am going home with an Infinix Zero smart
phone. I feel elated.”
Another winner, Lola Bello said she purchased items worth N10, 000 from Ruff 'n' Tumble and sang one of Tuface’s songs. “In return, I got his autograph on his CD and a digifon speaker as a reward."
Others artiste who were at the programme included Dammy Krane, RockSteady, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, Wunmi Obe, Terry G, Seyi Shay, Kenny Ogungbe, Kenny Saint Brown, Weird Mc, Nigga Raw, Yaw of Wazobia Fm and I.D Ogungbe.
