MEGA holds Nov. 14...Celebrates authentic voices of Nigeria gospel music

FAJ

The second edition of the Femi Akintunde Johnson (FAJ) Music & Entertainment Gospel Awards, MEGA (aka Mega Awards) will sensationally hold at The Haven Event Centre, off Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA Ikeja, Lagos on Friday, November 14, 2014, as from 4.00pm, according to a statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng by the awards' Main Organising Committee, (MOC).

After months of rigorous screening exercise by a three-tier process of identifying and celebrating the best music performed by some of our most talented people, a well-attended Nominees' Unveil ceremony was conducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 where about 24 categories were announced. Ten others were stepped down until the main event.

As usual, nomination letters have gone out to over 70 nominees spanning close to 110 nominations in 36 award categories.  Enthusiasm over the screening process brewed over during the six-week voting period (August 30 to October 10). Thousands of Nigerians across the nation, and in the Diaspora, participated actively.

The excitement of the awards has thrown up high expectation among the general public, especially within the entertainment industry, as artistes jostle to perform - even from outside Lagos. Some exciting young faces have been pencilled to perform at the Mix-Zone, the one and half hour spectacle that has now been upgraded to an award status. At least, 12 awards selected indiscriminately are marked for presentations, which is why all nominees are told to be punctual (4pm, no African time) as we strongly wish to avoid recipients missing their moment of glory. Interestingly, a new trophy (tentatively dubbed (Mega-Fella) will be unveiled.

The year's event features top artistes like Aity Daniel, Nosa, Tehila Crew, Funke Akinokun, Monique, Rosemary Chukwu, Cute Sagay, Ibitayo Jeje, Chika 100%, rapper Da'Son, Razphil (from Jos), and few more. Organisers insist there are two or more "surprise packages" for the night that will guarantee post-award buzz bigger than last year's.

Respected Nollywood personalities, popular musicians, celebrities, senior government officials and top brasses of the business community have accepted to present awards or attend as special guests. As well as famous men and women of God and hundreds of the best talents in the gospel music industry who have since received their invites (soft or hard copies) weeks ago.

We are confident that when all things fall in place, MEGA 2014 will have advanced several steps forward in making gospel music reclaim lost ground and underscore Nigerian entertainment as the real sector of the Nigerian economy and lifestyle. And what's more - this year's theme would have rekindled a new spirit that proclaims: the revolution has indeed begun!
