SHOWBIZPLUSng gathered that several events have been lined up to
celebrate the business mogul as he clocks the golden age. A family get together
will hold at his home in Anthony on December 26, Boxing Day, while the D-Day,
28 will begin with a thanksgiving mass at St’ Dominic Catholic Church, Yaba, Lagos.
The birthday party will begin immediately at his Anthony home till late
into the night.
Also, this year’s O’Jez Xmas Blast concert, scheduled to hold on
January 4 at the celebrity restaurant, inside the National Stadium premises
from 7pm, will be a continuation of the birthday celebration.

AFRIMA, Africa’s leading urban music channel, Channel O, has thrown its
weight behind AFRIMA by endorsing one of the categories of AFRIMA, the
Best R n B Song of the Year.
A statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng said that
in line with the agreement signed between
Electric Media Network (PTY) owner of Multichoice and AFRIMA Awards
Limited, the category will now be known as Best R n B Song in Africa

Copyright infringement: Lagos Oriental Hotel in trouble as COSON tells musicians, stakeholders to boycott them
Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s
sole government approved copyright collective management organization for
musical works and sound recordings, has asked all musicians, music industry
operatives and stakeholders in the creative sector to begin an immediate boycott
of Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island. The decision to begin the boycott was
unanimously ratified by the hundreds of COSON members who thronged Lagos
Airport Hotel, Ikeja recently for the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting of COSON
at which a royalty distribution of N90 million to musicians in the country was
approved.

Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) has announced that its
Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) will take place on Tuesday, December 16,
2014 at the Oranmiyan Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The main
agenda of the meeting is for members to pass a resolution to approve this
year’s distribution of music copyright royalties after which distribution shall
commence immediately.

Society of Nigeria (COSON) boycotted the British Council Creative Industries
Expo that held at Westown Hotel, Ikeja on Monday, December 8 and Tuesday
December 9, 2014. The decision to boycott the event was taken by the full Board
of COSON which met in Lagos recently.

Lagos to grant judgment to the society in the 1.04 Billion Naira law suit filed

and sound recordings has filed an application at the Federal High Court, Lagos
requesting the court to issue an order of interlocutory
injunction restraining NTA-Star TV Network Ltd, owners of Startimes, the pay TV
platform, whether by itself or its officials, privies, servants,
agents or howsoever called from
broadcasting, rebroadcasting or communicating to the public on any channel on
its platform any musical work and/or sound recording belonging to COSON, its
members or affiliates pending the determination of the issues in Suit No.
FHC/CS/1149/14.
