into the night.
Also, this year’s O’Jez Xmas Blast concert, scheduled to hold on
January 4 at the celebrity restaurant, inside the National Stadium premises
from 7pm, will be a continuation of the birthday celebration.
“We have made
provision for more gifts items that will dwarf previous year’s edition come
January 4,” Odobeatu said.
Two plasma TV sets have been added to the traditional four to be given
out to loyal customers come the night of January 4. A giant refrigerator as
well as an air conditioner with a power generating set will all be won that
day.
On how he feels to be 50, Odobeatu from Anambra State, said he feels
happy to be alive. “I feel very happy to be alive. The journey has been long
and tedious but by His grace, we have made it to 50. I feel happy, I feel
fulfilled and I cannot ask for more from God because he has given me everything
I asked for and more at 50. I have a lovely family, I have my businesses and we
are a household name in terms of entertainment and hospitality business in
Nigeria. I am happy and I thank God for His kindness and grace.”
This year’s O’jez Xmas Blast will feature comedian Mc Prymzo who will be
standing in for bereaved in house comic, Elder O, who lost his wife some couple
of weeks ago. Ada Owerri, Crazy Legs and the O’jez Band among many more acts
are scheduled to be on the bill. Celebrities that will grace the event include
Nollywood stars Charles Inojie, Ejike Asiegbu, Leo Mezie, Zach Orji, and Aki of
the Aki and Paw Paw fame among others. “This year’s event is special in the
sense that it coincides with my 50th birthday celebration. It is a
full blown concert people pay thousands of naira for elsewhere but here at
O’jez, it is added value for being a patron of O’jez. This is how we do it
every year to say thank you to our loyal customers that always come to patronize
us. Aside the usual Friday and Sunday night music and comedy sessions we have
at O’jez and of course the monthly O’jez Entertainment Award given to
deserving Nigerians in all fields of human endeavour, we ensure that we hold
five major shows for our customers in a year and they are; the O’jez
Valentine Party, O’jez Easter Fiesta, O’jez Democracy Jam which holds every
Democracy Day (May 29), O’jez Independence Party and finally the O’jez
Xmas Blast. These are major shows people pay thousands of naira to go and
watch elsewhere but at O’jez, it is complimentary to the rich Chinese, Nigerian
and continental dishes plus exotic wines and drinks we serve our customers.”
The record label owner said there is always a special session for kids
of customers to dance and win prizes that evening at any of O’jez shows. “As is
the tradition of O’jez, kids of customers will be involved in a dancing
competition where prizes would be won. We create a sense of belonging to the
little ones because most parents bring their kids out only on special
occasions, so we ensure that we make that occasion a memorable one for that
kid,” Odobeatu added.
