Lagos APC gov primary: $30,000 bribery allegation trails exercise as Ambode leads

L-R: Ambode and Tinubu

All is currently not well within the Lagos APC, as a group which calls it Save Lagos, has accused the national leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu of allegedly bribery delegates with $ 30, 000 each, in order to vote for his anointed candidate, Akin Ambode at their controversial primary that has shamefully ended the second day.
A message sent to Daylightng by the group read: “Okija shrine now in APC. Lagos delegates swear, get $ 30,000 each to vote for Ambode”

The crisis-ridden primary, where the former Lagos State Accountant General, Akin Ambode,  is said to be ahead of 11 other aspirants, started on Thursday at Onikan Stadium with 3,000 delegates scheduled to vote amid accusations of imposition and witch hunting.
Our correspondent reports that while the result and who wins the primary are not in doubt, counting of votes was still in progress as of 8am on Friday with the counting of Ambode’s votes.
From the number of votes counted as of 8am on Friday, former Commissioner for Works, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, scored 1,201 votes to place second while Senator Ganiyu Solomon got 272 votes to place third.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, scored 182 votes to occupy the fourth spot.
Ambode, whose votes are currently being counted, is said to have scored about 3,735 votes to record a landslide victory.
Despite Ambode’s controversial victory, many are still not happy with the outcome of the exercise, which they argued was hugely and openly compromised.
