PDP Primaries: How Ihedioha, Ribadu, Folarin floored opponents...Obanikoro, Maku, Wogu defeated

Amiable Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha floored Ikedi Ohakim and others to clinch the PDP governorship ticket of Imo State at a very smooth and well applauded primary in Owerri.
Also, barely four months after joining the Peoples Democratic Party, a pharmacist and an entrepreneur, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, on Monday emerged as the PDP governorship candidate for Lagos State.
He defeated a former Minister of State for Defence and Nigeria’s ex-High Commissioner to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro,who was touted as the leading contestant in the primary.

Political war: PDP gov aspirant, Gbadamosi, wears bulletproof vest to primary



Strange things are happening daily as Nigeria marches towards new political dispensation in 2015.
A Lagos State governorship aspirant, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi,  popularly known as BOG, caused a stir at the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary when he arrived the venue in a bulletproof vest.
Gbadamosi, while addressing journalists at the venue, said he wore the vest in order to protect himself from being hit by a stray bullet following the violence that erupted earlier in the day.

After months of intensive campaigns and consultations,  former Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, today, Monday finally emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, in a peaceful primary conducted at Community Secondary School, Nkpolu in Port Harcourt Local Government Area.
Wike, who immediately gave his acceptance speech after the result of the primary, polled 1,083 votes, while Dumbari Dimkpa came a distant second with 21 votes.

Lagos APC gov primary: $30,000 bribery allegation trails exercise as Ambode leads

 All is currently not well within the Lagos APC, as a group which calls it Save Lagos, has accused the national leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu of allegedly bribery delegates with $ 30, 000 each, in order to vote for his anointed candidate, Akin Ambode at their controversial primary that has shamefully ended the second day.

Anxiety, anger as PDP postpones presidential primaries to Dec 10



The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee at the weekend announced sweeping changes in the dates earlier fixed for conduct of its governorship primaries and Presidential convention amid speculations and tensions.
A statement signed by the PDP National Organising Sec­retary, Abubakar Mustapha, the governorship primaries and presidential convention earlier scheduled to hold on Novem­ber 29 and December 6, 2014 would now hold on December 8 and 10, 2014, respectively.

Imo: Diaspora Group Demands Governorship Slot for Owerri

The debate for power shift in the governorship of Imo State has been re-echoed as a Diaspora-based group, Alliance of Owerri Zone Indigenes in Diaspora (AOZID) called upon political stakeholders to allow Owerri senatorial zone produce the next governor in 2015.

In a press release signed by Professor Edward Oparaoji, Dr. Charlie Nzeakor, and the representatives of the federal constituencies in the State, the group lamented that Owerri zone has had the least and incomplete shot at the governorship office of the state, stressing that 2015 is the time to correct the anomaly.

The Council of State rose from its meeting on Tuesday with a statement that the Federal Government had yet to reach any agreement with the Boko Haram sect on the fate of the abducted Chibok girls.
It said although discussions were still ongoing, it was clear that the media misunderstood the position of the government on the reported ceasefire.

Boko Haram: APC calls for independent inquiry into fake Boko Haram ceasefire deal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for an independent inquiry to unravel the circumstances surrounding the apparently fake ceasefire deal announced by the Jonathan Administration on Oct. 17th, now that the sect's leadership has described as an impostor the man with whom the phantom deal was negotiated.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said Nigerians will like to know how the Jonathan Administration got swindled by an impostor, who the major players were and what the government plans to do to address what has now become a monumental national and international embarrassment.

Barring any changes, the All Progressives Congress, APC is set to adopt former Head of State, Gen. Mohammed Buhari (retd) as its consensus candidate for the 2015 presidential election.
Saturday Vanguard’s investigation, yesterday, revealed that the issue featured prominently at the October 17, 2014 National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party.
It was gathered that the party’s national leader and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the course of the meeting, openly declared his support for Buhari as against the expectation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, another presidential aspirant who was present at the meeting.

Shocker: I wasn’t ready to be Head of State — Gen. Gowon

A former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, yesterday, revealed that he was not ready to become the Nigerian leader after the July 1966 coup d’etat that caused the death of his predecessor, General Aguiyi Ironsi.
Gowon stated this during an interactive session on mentorship with youths, organised by Stand Up Nigeria to celebrate his 80th birthday.
The former military ruler also stated that the decision to become Head of State was made by junior military officers who had mistrust about senior officers, and he rejected the offer.

The Presidency on Thursday said its longstanding view that the agenda of the #BringBackOurGirls campaigners was confirmed on Wednesday with the presence of the movement’s leaders at the presidential declaration of Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, made the Presidency’s position known on his Twitter handle.

2015: Jonathan takes on co-contestants, calls them serial losers

The Presidency on Wednesday gave an indication that President Goodluck Jonathan will seek re-election during the 2015 presidential election, saying he will contest against those it described as “serial failures.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents.
Okupe was reacting to an online report which alleged that Jonathan is not interested in seeking re-election in 2015 but is working towards a two-year tenure elongation for himself and other public office holders across the country.

Nigeria's former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari declared he would run for president on Wednesday, criticising President Goodluck Jonathan's administration for corruption and failing to tackle the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency.
Meanwhile, Buhari’s bold declaration SHOWBIZPLUSng learnt has already unsettled and making the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar camp jittery .
