Ebola: Jonathan warns against discriminatory actions against Nigerians

President Jonathan
As the world unites in the fight against Ebola, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said that he expects and hopes that Nigerians will no longer suffer discriminatory checks and stigmatization abroad now that the World Health Organisation has certified Nigeria Ebola-free.
Speaking at an audience with the Foreign Ministers of Germany and France who called on him at the Presidential Villa on Monday in Abuja, President Jonathan restated the Federal Government’s displeasure over  the stigmatization of Nigerians by some countries after the Ebola virus entered Nigeria in July through a Liberian traveler.
The President, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, (Media and Publicity) Dr. Reuben Abati and made available to SHOWBIZPLUSng, maintained that there was never any justifiable basis for the stigmatization of Nigerians since Ebola was rapidly contained in the country and never attained epidemic levels.

South South TAN Rally: PDP Slams APC For Politicizing Ebola Virus Disease

L-R: Jonathan and Tinubu
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter says the All Progressives Congress, APC, is one flock of same minds suffering from the calamity of being ignorant of everything simply because they lack the courage to admit their ignorance of a great number of things including the dreaded Ebola Virus disease that is ravaging many parts of West African sub region.
The party came out with this while reacting to the APC’s unnecessary discomfort over the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN South South Rally in Port Harcourt over the weekend which was a huge success, and its senseless attempt to blame the party for going on with the event in view of the reported cases of the Ebola disease in the State.
In a statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to the State Chairman, Prince Felix Obuah and sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng, the Party said the APC’s continued hue and cry even after the event, and heaps of insults on President Goodluck Jonathan whom it is accusing of masterminding the rally appear to confirm the public view that all the noise about the Ebola virus disease without a corresponding action by Governor Amaechi and his APC chieftains in the State was mainly to stop the PDP rally and not born out of genuine concern for the health of Rivers people.
