Abuja Film Festival holds @ new venue

Unlike the previous editions of the annual Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF), which had always held at the cosmopolitan and expansive Shehu Musa Yar’ Adua’s Centre, this year’s event took place at the gigantic Bolingo Hotels and Towers.
According to Mr. Fidelis Duker, the Festival Director, some logistic issues led to the change of venue.
“The Yar’Adua Centre could not accommodate our new date after the festival was postponed to this current date. Bolingo is equally a good and specious venue and we hope to utilize our new found business relationship with them as well as maintaining the existing one with the Yar Adua’s Centre,” he explained.
With the theme: Nollywood! What Next?
Films from over 37 countries participated in this year’s programme, with Tunisia, Uganda, and Cuba hugely represented at the festival.
Razor, a riveting film from Australia, was screened to declare the festival open, while Femi Odugbemi’s work, entitled: Bariga Boy, a gripping documentary, was screened as part of the activities marking the eventful closing ceremonies of the festival.
Aside these two great works, other equally good feature films, short films and documentaries all screened at the festival, to the admiration of the participants.
