More tears for Clems Onyeka as NFC mourns

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has reacted to the death of yet another Nollywood star, Producer/Actor Clems Onyeka, who died on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, while on a Film Shoot Project in Asaba, Delta State.

In a statement in Jos, signed by Brian Etuk the Corporation’s Head of Public Affairs and sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng, the Nigerian Film Corporation described the death of Clems Onyeka’s as shocking, untimely, and a great loss to the Nigerian Film Industry.


According to Etuk, NFC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Dr. Danjuma Dadu is deeply saddened by the untimely death of Clems Onyeka who met his untimely death in a cross-fire between the Police and armed robbers in Asaba, Delta State while on a film shoot.

Dadu, in the statement commiserated with the family of Clems Onyeka, just as he also condoled with all film practitioners over this sudden loss, especially the leadership and members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).  He described the seasoned actor’s death as pathetic and unfortunate.

Dadu, assures that the Nigerian Film Corporation will continue to positively engage all film practitioners and stakeholders in the country to imbibe best global practices in the art and business of filmmaking, the statement added.

The need for the development of Film Villages and Cities, Sound Stages and Studios; the establishment of a National Film Development Fund; Motion Picture Practitioners Council (MOPICON); registration of Film Festivals and Markets, Film Schools and Film Practitioners, the NFC boss further said, are meant to provide the enabling environment for the Nigerian Film Industry to develop.
