Executive Jamboree! Labour party lampoons Obiano’s birthday celebration, calls it waste of Anambra’s funds

Obiano
The Labour Party in Anambra State has faulted Governor Willie Obiano for engaging in what they called lavish celebration of his birthday with the state funds at a time all the governments in the country are crying for money to provide democracy dividend to their citizenry.

Chairman of the party in the state, Comrade Luke Ezeanokwasa, told newsmen Tuesday in Awka, the state capital, that it amounted to insensitivity on the part of the Governor to lavish the state lean resources on  a birthday party for himself, when there are many projects that have been abandoned and crying for attention in the state due to lack of fund.

“It is unnecessary waste of public fund for the Governor to be organizing his birthday to massage his ego at a period when the revenue profiles of various governments in the country havs gone down drastically and when many projects have been stalled in the state for lack of fund”, said the Labour Party boss.
He accused the governor of undue interference in the Local Government funds in the state and questioned the where about of about N80 billion being allocation of Local Governments in the state for the past 16 months.
Accusing the Governor of lacking administrative knowledge and ability to govern the state, Ezeanokwasa frowned at his action to bring Local Government administration in the state to a halt by starving them of their statutory fund, alleging that the Governor had directed that Local Government chairmen cannot carryout projects exceeding N400,000, which he said has crippled development in the Local Governments in the state.
They challenged Governor Obiano to publish the comprehensive allocation of the state and local governments in the past 16 months and what have been done with the money, alleging that Obiano could not have claimed to be working when there are abandoned projects dotted all over the states.
The party also said that Obiano’s government has been imposing indiscriminate and astronomical levies on individuals and groups carrying out legitimate businesses in the state, citing the instance of tipper drivers, whose levy were increased from N200 to N1000 per trip.
