Imprisonment: Family unites for Ibinabo





The family of former beauty queen and star actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, who was recently sentenced to a 5 year prison term by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of the Lagos High Court, for manslaughter over the death of a medical doctor, Mr Suraj Giwa, has rallied round the embattled star.
It would be recalled that the sentence was as a result of an appeal by the Lagos state Government against the verdict of an Igbosere Magistrate court, which had earlier given Ibinabo a seven-year jail term or a fine of N100, 000.00, which she opted for.
According to Ibinabo’s publicist, the new sentence triggered a horrendous health issue, which has landed Ibinabo at an undisclosed hospital with doctors battling frantically to save her life.
Meanwhile, her loving family members are also working tirelessly to ensure that Ibinabo, a mother of three, does not spend the next five years behind bars. They recently filed a motion for stay of execution on the judgment, through their lawyers. This motion, we reliably gathered comes up for hearing at a Lagos High court on March 19, 2009, with a suit No. LCD/4CA/07. The family lawyers, Kamadu, Wodu and Associates, are handling it, as well as the appeal.
“This means that the actress will not be arrested or committed to jail pending the determination of the motion for stay of execution and bail, pending her appeal,” hinted a member of the family.

New act, Fabian Nwafor, joins ‘em

Emerging gospel talent, Fabian Nwafor has finally hit shelves with his debut effort entitled Oba, after a protracted copyright infringement battle with an Idumota-based marketer.
Freeflow Entertainment, a new outfit owned by young entrepreneur, Sammy Mobolorunduro, will market the seven-tracker album.
Some of the songs in the eight tracker album include: Oba, Jah Rules, Onyeoma, My Load, I Pray, This Kind God, Oba Medley and Onyeoma Medley.
The Enugu State born artiste who speaks Yoruba language fluently, believes the album would appeal to all Nigerians irrespective of language and age with its array of genres.
While expressing his gratitude to the marketing outfit for its faith in him, the young musician disclosed that he is confident that the new contractual relationship, which is expected to last for two years, will bring in good tidings and help elevate his budding career.
On his part, Mr. Mobolorunduro, the honcho of Freeflow Entertainment revealed that the outfit, which is just making an inroad into the entertainment industry with Nwafor, as its first act is poised to “redefine the norms” with its unique offering.
Meanwhile, the young artiste recently gave a taste of the album to a large audience at a launching ceremony, which held at Rehoboth Christian Centre, Lekki, Lagos.





Lurrenz back in the studio

Few weeks after breezing in from his base in Sweden, Hip-hop crooner, Lurrenz, is already spending some sleepless nights in the studios working tirelessly for his new set of singles.

The project, we reliably gathered is a collaboration between him and the duo of Konga and Pasto Goody, with Pupa Orits Williki, as its producer.
According to Lurrenz, whose last effort, African Woman, is still making waves, he hopes to engage in more collaboration with some popular Nigerian musicians before jetting back to base. He also added that the soon-to-be-completed work would be hitting the airwaves in the next couple of weeks.
Lurrenz, who is also of the view that Nigerian artistes are doing great home and abroad, is seriously planning a two-way tour that would kick start in Nigeria and climax in Europe. He further disclosed that modalities for the big-budget tour would soon be made public as well as the foreign collaborators he would be working with.
The act that miraculously survived the recent earthquake in Trelleborg, Sweden, would be having a special thanksgiving soon to celebrate his mysterious survival.







Dollar, Kollington, Ekiye, others shine @ Banji’s wedding

Leading musicians like: Kollington Ayinla, Fatai Rolling Dollar, Asu Ekiye and others thrilled guests endlessly at the recent wedding ceremony of Mr.Olabanji Adelana Anifowoshe, the General Manager of O’ Jez Music.
The star- studded nuptial, which held in Osun State, was also graced by Erelu Keji Okunowo, Mr. Anayo Odobeatu among several other big players within and outside the nation’s music industry.
The ceremony climaxed when the trio of Kollington Ayinla, Asu Ekiye and Rolling Dollar mounted the stage and titillated guests at the well-attended reception ground, which was beautifully anchored by Baba Ijesha. Several other artistes later thrilled at a post-wedding soiree held for the latest couple, in Lagos, a few days ago.





Nollywood sparkles @ launch of heritage house square

The nation’s motion picture industry globally known as Nollywood was hugely represented at the recent launch/grand opening of Heritage House Square Boutique Hotel, which held amid glitz in Ajao Estate, Lagos.
Some of the Nollywood stars that were specially invited to the event, which held on Valentine’s Day, were: Mr. Ejike Asiegbu, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), who breezed in with Ogechi, his lovely wife. We also spotted the quartet of Segun Arinze, Ramsey Noah, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey and Charles Novia, who all came with their wives. Also at the gathering were: Funke Akindele, Jennifer Eliogu, Simisola Opeoluwa, Sammie Okposo, Abubakar Yakub, Femi Adebayo, Adaora Ukoh, Emma Ehumadu and Chioma Okoye. Aside Nollywood stars; Princess Abba Folawiyo, Nnamdi Ozobia and other dignitaries graced the beautiful evening event that had victuals flowing from all corners of the expansive hall.
In his brief remarks, Chief Emeka Obodoechina, the Chairman of the newly opened hospitality haven, thanked all for coming and promised to raise the stakes in the hospitality sector.
In his own speech, Mr. Ronnie Hani, the outfit’s Managing Director, assured all of quality and professional services always. The X5 band supported by David Onwuemene, supplied music at the event, while the award- winning crew from Kingsley Ogoro Production (KOP), covered the event with hi-tech equipment. Mr. Ogoro, who was also at the launch, was busy calling the shots, while many of his colleagues were relaxing and having a blast.
