Tension as four families battle for MDA 8 Crown

 The stage is now set for the epic dance battle that will showcase Nigeria’s best dance family as the curtains fall on the Maltina Dance All (MDA) family television show. The winning dance family will go home with N10million, while the second and third will pocket N3million and N1million respectively.

SHOWBIZPLUSng learnt that the fate of the tension-soaked families is however in the hands of Nigerians as they - and not the judges – are the ones that would eventually pick the winning family. They can do this by sending their preferred family name through their phones to 20822. The family with the highest number of votes automatically becomes the country’s number one dance family.

The picture is gradually becoming clearer and the dance battle for the N10 million grand prize getting intense as the Maltina Dance All 8 academy makes steady progress. The Leonard and Maisamari families could not stand the twist, turns, frills and intensity of the show as they became the first two families to be evicted from the show described as Nigeria’s number one family dance show.

A statement sent to SHOEWBIZPLUSng stated that the two families were evicted from the show after performing the Wazobia (Nigeria’s indigenous dance) and Jive dance routines.  They got the judges sledge hammer because of their inability to creatively satisfy them with their performances.

After an intense battle laden with excitement and suspense, 10 out of the 13 families that were selected from different regions to take part in the grand auditions have been admitted into the famed Maltina Dance All (MDA) Academy. SHOWBIZPLUSng learnt that these 10 families face the prospect of going home with a whopping 10 million naira grand prize as well as the highly coveted title of Nigeria’s number one dancing family. The first and second runners-up will take home N3million and N1million respectively.

Following the successful completion of the regional auditions of the only family dance show in Nigeria, Maltina Dance All season eight (MDA8), over ten thousand contestants who participated in the dance show have applauded the brand for putting together fun filled and rewarding auditions which visited three major cities of Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja. 

SHOWBIZPLUSng gathered that the 2014 edition tagged “The Rhythm of Happiness” which chronicles a new dance style known as Rhythm of Happiness Dance (ROHD) produced 48 winners from the age grade categories who won various gift items and 28 winners in the “family representative” category.

Thousands of dancers defied the heavy down pour in Abuja, the Federal capital territory to participate in the regional auditions for the Maltina Dance All season eight (MDA8) which made its last stop for this season in the city, which was agog for the show.

SHOWBIZPLUSng learnt that the event which took place at the ultra modern conference hall of the NICON Luxury Hotel played host to contestants who trooped in from Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Plateau, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa and surrounding states to compete for the mouth-watering prizes and a spot in the academy - alongside their respective families.

SHOWBIZPLUSng can authoritatively report that the atmosphere at the National Art Theatre Lagos, venue of the Maltina Dance All Season eight (MDA8) audition was charged as thousands of contestants rocked the dance stage with the new dance style Rhythm of Happiness Dance (ROHD) as the quest for places in the Maltina Academy heats up.

 The ROHD dance is a new easy to learn hip-hop dance style that reflects contemporary pop culture. The new dance style is a prelude to the popular family dance show, MDA season eight tagged “The Rhythm of Happiness.”
