More tears in Algeria over military plane crash...Over 77 perished as families count losses

The Algerian authorities say 77 people were killed when a military transport plane crashed – not over 100 as was previously feared. It is still one of the country’s worst air disasters.
Emergency services told public radio that one survivor, suffering from a head injury, had been found.
The Hercules C-130 aircraft was carrying members of the armed forces and their families. Women and children were among the bodies recovered.

The Ministry of Defence said a snow storm caused the crash in a mountainous area of the Oum El Bouaghi province, some 500 kilometres from Algiers. The plane is believed to have taken off from Tamanrasset, around 2000km south of the capital, en route to Constantine.
