No fewer
than 15 passengers drowned last Thursday night when the vehicle they were
traveling in suddenly lost control and plunged into River Rima in Goronyo Local
Government Area of Sokoto State.
An
eyewitness said the victims were returning from a journey to their hometown,
Dan-Wawaru village en-route Takakume village in the same local government
area.
“They
attended a religious ceremony on the fateful day and the driver was assumed to
have fallen asleep, and as a result he lost control of the vehicle,” he said.
