Ebola: Fear grips Lagosians as another nurse tests positive



Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, said on Monday that another Lagos nurse has tested positive to the Ebola Virus Disease, this SHOWBIZPLUSng can authoritatively report.
The development came 22 days after the first case of the virus was recorded.
The minister explained that the newly married nurse was among those that had direct contact with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who imported the disease to Nigeria.

Ebola: How Lagos nurse who treated Liberian Sawyer died


Health workers battling Ebola

 The Federal Government said on Wednesday that a nurse, who was one of the medical personnel that attended to the late Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, has died of the disease.
Sawyer died of Ebola virus in a Lagos private hospital penultimate Friday.
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja, also confirmed that five other medical practitioners, who participated in the treatment, were already infected with the virus.
He said, “Nigeria has now recorded seven confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease.

Ebola: Panic as Nigerian doctor who treated Liberian patient is infected with virus




 Minister of Health, Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Monday explained that the medical doctor who carried out treatment on the late Patrick Sawyer, who died of Ebola virus on July 25, has exhibited symptoms of the deadly disease.
He, however, said the Federal Government had not been able to confirm whether the medical doctor has actually been infected with the disease
He said a total of 70 Nigerians who came in contact with the late Sawyer, including two other medical personnel who treated him, had been quarantined and placed under surveillance.
