Applause as NBC issues licence to new satellite broadcast operator

To further expand the choice of consumers of satellite broadcast services in the country, the National Broadcasting Commission on Wednesday issued an operating licence to a new operator, Chapters Digital Nigeria Limited.
At a ceremony to present the licence, Director General of NBC, Mr. Emeka Mba, said the licence was being issued at a critical time when Nigeria was in transition from analogue to digital broadcasting in accordance with the directive of the International Telecommunications Union.

The President of the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria, Mrs. Debbie Odutayo, has expressed satisfaction at the role EMCOAN played during the conference of African Broadcasters – AFRICAST – held in Abuja last week.
The conference, which was organized by the Emeka Mba-led National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) focused on the key role that quality content would play in the digitisation of broadcasting in Nigeria.

GOtv berths in Ilesa, Ede, Iseyin excites subscribers

GOtv, during its recent launch in Abeokuta announced that it will be embarking on a rapid roll-out across Nigeria in readiness for the digital migration being championed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
 While keeping to its promise to subscribers, on Monday, August 11, GOtv switched on its signals in Ilesa, Ede and Iseyin, thus further deepening its penetration of Osun and Oyo States.
According to a press statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng, this takes the number of cities covered by GOtv to 24, including Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Enugu, Benin, Aba, Owerri, Kano, Kaduna, Onitsha, Asaba, Uyo, Abuja, Calabar, Osogbo, Ife, Ogbomoso, Akure, Oyo, Jos and Abeokuta.

GOtv has launched its services in Abeokuta, the rock city, offering quality and exciting programming at an affordable price of N6,900. For N6,900, subscribers can get a GOtv decoder, outdoor GOtenna and one month subscription to the GOtv Plus bouquet.

General Manager GOtv Nigeria, Mrs Elizabeth Amkpa explained to SHOWBIZPLUSng at the launch that GOtv is enabling the Nigerian government to achieve a speedy migration from analogue to digital broadcasting using the latest technology DVB-T2, emphasising that digital migration will change the outlook to television entertainment in Nigeria.

GOtv positions for Digital Switch-Over with Get Up and GO empowerment

 Digital terrestrial pay-TV, GOtv has continued to innovate value-laden, people-oriented services.The latest is the launch of a new entrepreneurial scheme, called Get Up and GO.Kicking-off in Jos, in anticipation of the digital broadcast switch-over, the scheme will train unemployed youths in proper antenna installations, service activation as well as attending to sundry secondary customers’ complaints.

A statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng stated that the scheme, which involves a formal training workshop, as well as hands-on practical sessions, is in collaboration with some youth development-oriented Non-Governmental Organisations, NGO.
