In an emotional chat with publisher and editor in chief of SHOWBIZPLUSng, Prince Azuh Amatus, during a recent condolence visit to his Aguda, Surulere home, the Abia State-born entertainer narrated to us in tears-filled eyes how his wife of barely one year died less than 24 hours after giving birth to a baby boy.

After five years on the run, Police finally nabs killer of UK-based actor in Asaba, set to extradite him

The Nigeria Police Force says the Federal Government is set to extradite a murder suspect, Jeffrey Okafor, to the United Kingdom where he has been declared wanted for the murder of a UK-based child actor, Carl Asiedu.
Okafor and others who have since been arrested allegedly stabbed 19-year-old Asiedu to death on August 1, 2009 outside a UK nightclub.
Okafor was later caught on CCTV boarding a plane to Nigeria days after committing the alleged act.

UNIBEN Undergraduate dupes German of $12,000



A 30-year-old student of University of Benin, UNIBEN, Kenneth Rukewe Ebule, has been arrested by operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly defrauding a German national, Sabine Albert, of $12,088.75.
The suspect, a final year student of Computer and Statistics, was arraigned before Justice E. F. Ikponmwen, of an Edo State High Court, sitting in Benin on a six-count charge bordering on forgery, obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents.

BBA Hotshots: Africa fires Arthur, Kacey Moore, Luis





Rwanda’s Arthur, Ghana’s Kacey Moore and Namibia’s Luis were evicted in an all-male Big Brother Hotshots hat-trick on Sunday, leaving just 16 housemates in contention for the USD300 000 prize. The fourth eviction of the season was also the first that hadn’t featured any of the Big Brother Hotshots ladies, with sole female nominee Sheillah surviving this week.

The Assemblies of God Church has announced the excommunication of its past General Superintendent, Rev. Paul Emeka, from the church
But reacting to the development, Emeka said the action was a “coup.”
While announcing the removal of its spiritual leader’s dismissal from the ministry with his pastoral certificate withdrawn, the church also announced the emergence of Rev. Chidi Okoroafor as the new General Superintendent of the church.

Fifteen Generals have been retired from the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME) Auchi, Edo state amid tension and allegation of ethnic cleansing targeted at a particular section of the country.

Gory: Civilian JTF beheads 41 Boko Haram fighters



Forty one members of the Islamic fundamentalist group, Boko Haram, were beheaded by the vigilante group in a Borno village, Gur, it was gathered on Friday.
A member of the youth vigilance group in the area, Mala Yusuf, recounted that after a failed attack on Sabon Gari in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state, a combined team of military men and members of the vigilance group otherwise known as Civilian JTF, went after the insurgents and killed 41 of them.

Court quashes Jimoh Ibrahim’s Newswatch take-over, halts further publications

 A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has quashed the Share Purchase Agreement which transferred ownership of Newswatch Communications Limited to Global Media Mirror Limited owned by businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.
The court also awarded N15.7 million damages against Jimoh Ibrahim and the other respondents in the suit.
Presiding Justice Ibrahim Buba also made an order halting further publications of Newswatch Daily among other reliefs sought by the petitioners.

Multi-talented entertainer, Helen Paul, also known as Tatafo, has done it again. She recently opened a multi-million naira film school, christened Helen Paul Theatre and Films Academy.
SHOWBIZPLUSng gathered that the institution is located at 14-16, Emmanuel Olorunfemi Street, by Orimolade, College Road, Ogba, Lagos.
The Glo ambassador said the opening of the academy was a dream come true, having nurtured the ambition from childhood. She explained that the effort is also geared towards contributing her own quota to the development of the entertainment sector, and education in general.
