With heavy
hearts and tears still flowing in their eyes, the family of Professor Dora
Akunyili has announced that the former NAFDAC boss will be buried on Thursday,
August 28, this SHOWBIZPLUSng can authoritatively report.
The burial
arrangement which was announced by her family recently was signed by her
husband and was also posted on late Akunyili Facebook page.
The
week-long funeral programme announced by the family, kicks off on Friday,
August 22, with a Christian Wake-Keep at the family residence in Enugu. After a
night of tributes and a Mass in Abuja, Akunyili’s body would leave for Enugu,
where there would be a Mass at KSJ Temple on Tuesday, August 25.
There will
also be series of activities including a High Requiem Mass at Holy Ghost
Cathedral Enugu, a Final College Assembly at the UNCOMA Hall, College of
Medicine, Ituku Ozalla, Enugu. Her body will depart for Anambra State
Government House before her lying in state at her husband’s house on Thursday,
August 28.
Professor
Dora Akinyili who was a delegate to the National Conference in Abuja, died on
Saturday, June 7, after a two-year battle with cancer.
