The Permanent Secretary in the Minisrty of Petroleum Resources,
Danladi Kifasi has finally allayed the fears of Nigerians over the
rumour of fuel price increment, saying there was nothing like that now
or in the nearest future. According to an advertorial signed by Kifasi
on behalf of the Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke, he said
the attention of the ministry had been drawn to recent reports in the
media indicating an impending hike in pump price of petrol from the
current price of N97 per litre.
"For the avoidance of doubt, we
wish to state that neither the ministry nor any of its agencies namely,
NNPC, PPPRA, DPR, is under any instruction to activate pump price regime
as being speculated."
The ministry also warned oil marketers to
desist from hoarding of petroleum products and equally urged the general
public to desist from panic buying in anticipation of any increase in
pump price.
