Mandela & Queen Elizabeth of England |
Makaziwe, one
of the proud but mourning daughters of Mandela, recently opened up to the BBC
about the memorable final hours of her world famous dad and ex president of
South Africa, who died recently at the age of 95.
Makaziwe
disclosed that her great father died in the presence of his wife, Graca,
children and grand-children, who all said goodbye to him.
“Until the
last moment he had us…The children were there, the grand children were there,
Graca was there, so we are always around him and even at the last moment, we
were sitting with him on Thursday, the whole day...”
Meanwhile,
South Africa is observing a series of commemorations over the next one week,
leading up to the funeral on Sunday.
Over 100
current and former heads of state or governments are attending the burial,
which began today with a national memorial with world leaders such as Obama,
Cameron, Moon and others in attendance.
