AfricaMagic turns 10, set to announce nominees for AMVCA 2014

The excitement is fast building as nominations for the second edition of the much anticipated 2014 AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) which was first launched in september 2012, will be announced in a glamorous two-pronged event in Lagos, Nigeria.

The names of nominees will be revealed on Thursday, December 5 in conjunction with AfricaMagic’s 10th anniversary celebration. The nomination announcement will be hosted by Stargist presenters, the beautiful Vimbai and her amiable co-host, Lawrence in a live broadcast.

Joining them at this night of magic and celebration will be AfricaMagic Jara presenters, funny girl Helen Paul and the dapper looking Uti Nwanchukwu to host the AfricaMagic at 10 celebration.

While the award organisers hoped for a higher number of entries for the 2014 edition,  submissions  have so far exceeded expectations. Entries for the awards scheduled to have closed on 18th October  was extended to 1st November 2013, as TV and film practitioners across the continent submitted entries in droves. Hundreds of entries have so far been received across Africa, showing  a high level of participation, which also confirms the success of the maiden edition.

The judging panel which convened in Johannesburg, South Africa to lend its expertise to the nominations process was led by film maker and documentary veteran, Femi Odugbemi, who in a media session explained in detail, the level of professionalism and dedication the judging panel exhibited through out the process.

Joining the AfricaMagic family on stage to reveal the nominations and add colour to this wonderful event are some of the big names in Africa’s TV & film.

DStv viewers can tune in to AfricaMagic Entertainment, channel 151, on Thursday, 5th December 2013 at 7:00pm to catch all the live action, as the best and brightest in African film and television are unveiled at this grand nomination ceremony.
