Breaking: Finally, Jonathan cancels Immigration recruitment, gives victims automatic jobs

After listening to the cries of Nigerians, President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday, finally directed the immediate cancellation of the immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of more than twenty applicants and scores of others injured.

SHOWBIZPLUSNG learnt that the presidential directive was given at today’s Federal Executive Council meeting where the president further directed that all those who lost their loved ones would have automatic slot for three applicants, one of whom must be a woman.

Jonathan directed that all those who sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized be given automatic employment in the service.

President Goodluck Jonathan also directed that three employment slots be reserved for the families of those who died during the stampede that occurred during the recruitment exercise conducted by the Nigerian Immigration Service on Saturday nationwide.

This is definitely the mother of all revelations. A prosecution witness in the trial of the embattled Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji,  on Tuesday narrated how the Speaker spent million of Naira belonging to the house on his trips within and outside Nigeria.

SHOWBIZPLUSNG gathered that Adebayo Adeniyi, who is a witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  also told the court how the defendants collected N13.5m for honorarium, N4.5m for  renovation of his  residence, and another N1.5m for the Speaker’s Guest House every month for six months.

By AZUH AMATUS: It was fun and amazing watching the recently held second edition of the annual Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

In fact, I still doff my hat for the organizers for giving Nigerians and the entire African continent the true feel of what a continental award should be and look like, despite the many trials and errors from different awards.

However, my joy of watching a truly world class award ceremony painstakingly put together by a team of serious minded organizers later turned into sadness.

Wounds to Reeva Steenkamp's head and right arm would have caused arterial spurting and a trail of blood in Oscar Pistorius's house after he shot her, the High Court in Pretoria heard on Wednesday.

"The volume of blood in the head would have been a good source for the constant dripping blood down the stairwell," said blood spatter analyst Colonel Ian van der Nest.

The other main source of blood would have been her right arm, which ballistics expert Captain Chris Mangena testified earlier was hit when she was in a defensive position.

Apostolic Church pastor lands in jail for using machete on wife

An Ogun State Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Owode Egba, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, yesterday, remanded a Pastor, Samuel Daniel in prison for using a machete on his wife.

SHOWBIZPLUSNG gathered that the man of God was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and providing false information, which is punishable under Sections 338 and 192 criminal code Vol 1 law of Ogun State, 2006.

The accused, who was a Pastor with an Apostolic Church in Ode Remo area of the state, reportedly went to his wife’s place of work at Itori village in Owode-Egba on December 10, 2013 and used the machete on her for abandoning church programmes.

Amaechi accused of crippling Rivers economy with questionable loans

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State Chapter, has once again expressed worry over the continuous application and access to loan facilities by the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The PDP says the governor’s option for loan and other financial aids, which will be repaid by the next government, is ill-conceived and also exposes the governor’s ulterior motives and deliberate efforts to milk- dry the treasury and fortune of the State and the people.

The PDP, in a statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSNG queried the governor’s access to N4b Agricultural loan on Monday, March 16, 2014, when he had earlier obtained N5b loan still on the Agricultural sector in 2008, on which no account has been rendered on its application and utilization till date.

The Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday (today) finally succeeded in forcing the embattled speaker of the House, Victor Ochei, to resign from his plum job. To further seal Ochei’s fate, the House immediately elected Mr. Peter Onwusanye, (PDP Oshimili South) as its new speaker.

SHOWBIZPLUSNG checks revealed that Ochei’s forced resignation has been linked to a recent allegation by Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark that embattled Ochei embezzled the sum of N27 billion meant for the Independent Power Project (IPP) in Oghara, through his company Davnotch.

The election of Onwusanya was sequel to the resignation of the former Speaker, Mr. Victor Ochei, as contained in a letter read by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Basil Ganagana.

The look on Mick Jagger's face pretty much tells the story as he hastily left a restaurant in Perth, Australia Monday.

The pic was shot a little more than a hour before the news broke in NYC that his longtime girlfriend, L'Wren Scott had committed suicide, but it appears Jagger had already been informed.  He left the restaurant 50 minutes after arriving.
