fortnight abroad, leading actor and the Lagos State Chairman of the Actors
Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Victor Osuagwu is back from his UK and US trips,
respectively.

music talents show Star Quest has been canceled by the producers, Nigerian
Breweries Plc (NB Plc). What perhaps, many don’t know is the dirty politics
behind the cancellation of the troubled show.

failed to meet the aspirations of the company, thus creating disaffection among
the top echelon of the organization.

The Federal Executive Council on
Wednesday approved the draft National Tobacco Control Bill 2004 that will be
sent to the National Assembly as an Executive Bill for promulgation into law.
The Bill, SHOWBIZPLUSng checks revealed, recommends a minimum of six
months imprisonment or N50,000 or both for individuals that smoke outside
public places designated as smoking areas.
Minister of Information, Mr. Laban
Maku; and the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, disclosed this to
State House correspondents at the end of the meeting presided over by President
Goodluck Jonathan.
Chukwu said the penalties for
corporate offenders varied from N1million to N5million and one year to two
years imprisonment for the chief executives of such firms.

THE Movement for the Emancipation of the
Niger Delta (MEND) has insisted that contrary to the claim that no ransom was paid
for the release of the son of the Ijaw National Leader, Ebikeme Clark,
that N500m had been disbursed for his freedom, by the Emmanuel Uduaghan-led Delta State government.
MEND, according to info pieced by SHOWBIZPLUSng, said Ebikeme’s abduction was
stage-managed by the victim himself and disclosed that the Delta State
Government paid the ransom, which was shared among those involved in the
fraud.
A statement signed by the militant
group’s spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, specified that the ransom was released
from the Delta State Government’s security vote.
MEND alleged that the kidnap victim, who
was released on Sunday, was following the footsteps of his father,
Chief Edwin Clark, who formulated the idea of the Niger Delta Amnesty
Programme that had made him and few thugs billionaires.
