Onwubiko, Bimbo Manuel, Alex Lopez, Ibidapo-Obe, others storm Unilag for ‘No Excuses’

Rochas Okorocha on war path with APC…Accuses party of imposition of candidates

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha, has urged the party to stop the culture of imposition of candidates in order to move ahead of the competition.
Okorocha said this in his remarks at the 1st Progressive Governors-Legislative-Civil Society Roundtable in Abuja, on Monday.
The roundtable SHOWBIZPLUSNG learnt was tagged ‘Improving Governance through transparent budgeting, accountability and effective public financial management.’ The Imo State governor, who said he was aligning himself to comments made by a previous speaker, said the 2015 general election was for the APC to win or lose.
According to him, the outcome of the recent opinion polls conducted by APC’s foreign consultant is a true reflection of what is on ground, noting that for the APC to form the government in 2015, it must do things differently.
Okorocha said, “Our victory is in our hands, it is left for us to make it or mar it but I believe we can make it. I believe that this issue of imposition of candidates must stop in APC and that is the only way.

President Jonathan speaks at the Hague, supports efforts to curb threat of nuclear terrorism

 President Goodluck Jonathan  today (Monday) at the Hague in the Netherlands reaffirmed Nigeria's full commitment to the global fight against the threat of nuclear terrorism, but said that Nigeria, under his leadership will continue to pursue efforts to harness nuclear energy and technology for socio-economic development.


In his statement to the third global security summit which opened in the city today, President Jonathan, in a release sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng and signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, said that while Nigeria will continue to support all efforts against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, the world must respect the right of countries to the peaceful use of nuclear energy for development purposes.

Families in tears as Malaysia says missing jet crashed at sea



Malaysia said Monday the passenger jet which went missing more than two weeks ago crashed in the Indian Ocean, but shed no light on the mystery of why it veered from its intended course.
Prime Minister Najib Razak said new satellite analysis of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370′s path placed its last position in remote waters off Australia’s west coast, and far from any landing sites.
The sombre announcement on the fate of the plane ended 17 days of agonising uncertainty for relatives of those on board — two thirds of them Chinese.

Islamic Cleric docked for defiling 12-yr-old girl



A 32-year-old Islamic cleric, Kazeem Jimoh, on Monday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, charged with the alleged defilement of a 12-year-old girl.
Jimoh, whose address was not given, from SHOWBIZPLUSNG findings, is facing a one-count charge of rape.
The prosecutor, Inspector, Peter Molokwu, told the court that the cleric committed the offence on March 18 at 8.00 p.m. in an uncompleted building opposite Community Primary School, Iloye in Ota.
Molokwu said that the accused lured the girl into the building and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
He said that police investigation revealed that the cleric had previously engaged in the act with the girl.

Nollywood star, Tricia Esiegbe’s fight against child sexual abuse and molestation recently got a big boost. SHOWBIZPLUSNG learnt that Eseigbe’s latest advocacy project The Psychologist –  a public awareness campaign project  on Child Sexual Abuse, has now got the support, endorsement and partnership of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Psychologist, according to the presenter and producer of Boldfaces, is designed to expose sexual predators within Nigeria and also create a support platform for victims of child molestation.

Greedy Court Registrar jailed for demanding bribe



SHOWBIZPLUSNG gathered that an Enugu High Court has sentenced the Registrar of a Magistrate’s Court in Enugu State, Anikwu Ifesinachi, to three years imprisonment without an option of fine, for demanding bribe.
According to a statement from the spokesperson for the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, Mr. Folu Olamiti, on Sunday, Justice A. A. Nwobodo convicted him after finding him guilty of contravening section 10 (a) (ii) of the ICPC Act, 2000.
Ifesinachi was accused of demanding N80, 000.00 bribe from the relation of a suspect before he would process the warrant of release of the suspect who was in custody for about two years.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter says the State will be better off if Gov Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi throws in the towel having failed in his oath of allegiance to protect lives and properties of the Rivers people as the Chief Security Officer in the State.

In what has been described as the most expensive dog sale ever, a Tibetan mastiff puppy has been sold in China for almost 2 million dollars, a report said recently.
A property developer paid 12 million yuan (1.9 million dollars) for the one-year-old golden-haired mastiff at a “luxury pet” fair on Tuesday, in the eastern province of Zhejiang, the Qianjiang Evening News reported.

SHOWBIZPLUSNG recently gathered that disgraced Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere has concluded plans to shoot a gripping movie on rape. The Fuji singer who was recently hit by a rape scandal is taking the advantage of the situation by turning it into a film.
According to our findings, Obesere has written a script about rape and is currently shopping for artistes who will fit into the characters. It is not yet certain if the famous musician will be starring in the movie, but prominent artistes are sure to take the lead in the movie. Unconfirmed reports also have it that a total sum of N20 million has been budgeted for the project.

Unbelievable! DR Congo recruits robots as traffic police



The Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital Kinshasa is notorious for bad traffic. So police are getting a helping hand to keep the cars moving.
Two giant traffic robots have appeared in the capital, a city where drivers normally spend hours in traffic and which has become notorious for corrupt traffic police.
Unlike their human counterparts, the robots, which have built-in cameras to report traffic offences to a central computer, are unable to collect bribes.

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described as unfortunate the continued acute scarcity of drinking water in the State despite the huge resources available to Gov Amaechi administration to satisfy this basic need.

The party in a statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSNG by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to the State Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah made the observation while speaking at this year’s World Water Day Celebration.

The PDP blamed the lingering water problem in the State on Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s inability to differentiate between the basic needs of the people and political exigencies, stressing that water is essential to sustenance of life and is the sole reason for the celebration by the United Nations.

Private jet lands Petroleum Minister, Diezani in big trouble… As Reps probe N10bn she wasted on aircraft

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a resolution to probe an alleged spending of N10bn by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to charter and maintain a jet for her personal use.
SHOWBIZPLUSNG gathered that the resolution indicated that the minister spent 500,000 Euros or N130m monthly to maintain the aircraft in the last two years.
“Thus, in the last two years, the minister has committed at least N3.120bn to maintaining the private jet, which is used solely for her personal needs and those of her immediate family, which is an appalling act”, the sponsor of the motion, Mr. Samuel Adejare, told the House.
He alleged that other “wasteful” costs associated with the minister’s frequent trips with the jet were “currently estimated at N10bn, which include payment of allowances to the crew for trips, hanger parking and rent based on the lease agreement.”
