N2 billion fraud: TY Danjuma, aide fight dirty…Police, court wade in

This is definitely not the best of time for one of Nigeria's most revered  retired generals, TY Danjuma. 
SHOWBIZPLUSng gathered that the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Lagos State Police command recently charged a special assistant of Danjuma, Manasseh Zorto, before a Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding the former minister and reputed businessman of about N2 billion.

But the planned arraignment could not take place because Zorto was said to be on the run.

Another calamity recently befell the Segun Agbaje-led Guaranty Trust Bank, as one of their drivers identified only as Felix, was attacked on Wednesday morning by suspected robbers around Olopomeji Bridge, Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos.
Our correspondent learnt that Felix was on his way to pick the bank workers with the staff bus when he was attacked around 6am.
An eyewitness, Babajide Kabiawu, said the robbers, after dispossessing him of the Toyota Hiace bus, pushed him into an oncoming vehicle.

Enugu Gov., Chime finally sacks his deputy, Onyebuchi via impeachment

After weeks of horse-trading and melodrama the members of the Enugu State House of Assembly on Tuesday, August 26, finally impeached the deputy governor of the state, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, on the alleged orders of the state governor, Sullivan Chime.
Onyebuchi’s impeachment followed his indictment by a seven-man panel of inquiry, which investigated allegations leveled against him by members of the Enugu State House of Assembly.
The panel, in its report, held that Onyebuchi was guilty of the allegations brought against him.
“The allegations of gross misconduct leveled against the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, by the Enugu State House of Assembly have been proved,” the panel, headed by Mr. Franklin Oraekeyi, stated in the report.

One of the caught staff, 20-year-old Arayode Samuel was recently arraigned by the police for certificate forgery and stealing of N540, 000 belonging to his employers and customers.
It was gathered that Arayode, a worker at the Ikota branch of Sterling Bank allegedly secured employment with the bank using the forged certificate.
He was arraigned on three counts bordering on forgery and theft.

The seven-man investigation panel into impeachment allegations against Enugu State Deputy Governor, Sunday Onyebuchi Thursday concluded its sitting, declaring that it would make her findings known to the House of Assembly.
Panel Chairman, Uche Frankline Oraekenyi urged parties in the case to await further directives from the State Assembly, whom he said empowered them to do their job.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently nabbed two bankers with Herbert Wigwe-led Access Bank, Rowland Alozie, Segun Osho-and one Abass Kolawale for stealing huge amount of money in their care.
The EFCC said the suspects converted the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Cheque of N9.6m to personal use.

By AZUH AMATUS: Sincerely, I never wanted to comment or dabble into discussions surrounding the recent defection of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Truth is, I’m not a fan of Ribadu, but hugely applauded his courageous exploits in the past as EFCC boss.
 Besides, I’m also not a card carrying member of both the PDP and APC.
However, I changed my mind after angrily reading the disappointing and inglorious reasons, Ribadu adduced and justified as his main reasons for jumping ship, while reacting through his spokesman, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz.
Even though, Ribadu is a professional in politics, I never expected him to come up with such lame and laughable excuse, which has firmly put him in the mould of typical Nigerian politicians.

How fire gutted NFF head office in Abuja

Raging fire today razed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) headquarters in Wuse Zone 7 District, Abuja.
The NFF scribe, Ademola Olajire, while confirming the fire incident said the cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately but that it started from the third floor of the building.
Nigeria’s football association, driven by in-fighting and sanctioned by the world game’s governing body, suffered a fresh blow after fire gutted its headquarters.

How Adedavoh, doctor infected by Sawyer, died of Ebola

 Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, one of the medical personnel who treated Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American who exported the dreaded Ebola Virus into Nigeria, finally lost the battle to stay alive. She was 58 years old.
Adadevoh was one of the physicians at First Consultants Medical Centre, a Lagos-based hospital, where Patrick Sawyer, was admitted; she died on Tuesday evening after all efforts to revive her from coma by medical experts failed.
Her passing brings the total number of casualties in Nigerian from the Ebola virus  to five since it first broke in July.

Ribadu set to contest Adamawa governorship race, picks PDP nomination form

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who just defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party said he has applied to the national leadership of the ruling party to grant him waiver in order to enable him contest the party’s governorship primary in Adamawa State.
Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, said this on Monday when he picked the party’s Expression of Interest Form in Abuja.
The form will enable him contest the governorship primary of the party in the state on Sep. 6.
Ribadu’s form was picked for him by his political associate, Alhaji Ahmidu Mahmoud.
Mahmoud, who spoke with journalists after he payed N11m for the form, said Ribadu was ready for the party’s primary adding that he was confident of getting the waiver.

Sack: Lagos doctors stage protest

 Members of the Lagos State Chapter, Nigerian Medical Association staged a protest at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi- Araba, today.
They are protesting the sacking of 16,000 resident doctors in the country by the Federal Government.
The doctors who wore white lab coats were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as ‘Sack of 16,000 resident doctors, Death Sentence for Nigerians!,’ ‘Sack Ebola not Doctors,’ ‘Sack Boko Haram not Doctors,’ ‘Sack Chukwu not Doctors!’No to Casualisation of Doctor.’
The State Chairman of the association, Dr. Tope Ojo, who addressed journalist in LUTH, said that the sack of resident doctors in all Federal teaching hospitals in the country would lead to imminent collapse of the health sector.

Shocker: US classifies anti-Ebola drug ordered by Nigeria as pesticide

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Thursday it has become aware of products being sold online that fraudulently claim to prevent or treat Ebola.
The FDA's warning comes on the heels of comments by Nigeria's top health official, Onyebuchi Chukwu, who reportedly said earlier Thursday that eight Ebola patients in Lagos, the country's capital, will receive an experimental treatment called nano-silver.
Erica Jefferson, a spokeswoman for the FDA, said she could not provide any information about the product referenced by the Nigerians.
The FDA did not specify any products in its warning.
