After several weeks of intensive research and brain storming
sessions within and outside Nigeria, a new blog on Nollywood was recently
launched on the blogosphere with overwhelming ovation.
NollyCulture, which focuses on “Everything Nollywood, Everything
Nigerian Culture,” recorded over a 100 visits within the first few hours of its
launch on July 14, 2013, with guests hitting repeatedly on its captivating
posts, like “Adichie Roots for Nollywood,” “What’s in a Name: Soyinka rejects
‘Nollywood,’” and “Chinua Achebe: Lessons From A Personal Encounter,” among
others.
Explaining its raison d’ĂȘtre, NollyCulture says it exists “To raise issues and ask questions on Nollywood and the contemporary Nigerian socio-cultural traditions, as well as explore the relationship and interactions between the two.” Then, it enjoins its readers: “Let’s talk Nollywood then–its movies, moviemakers, actors, and stars. Let’s discuss Nigeria–its peoples, cultures, and contemporary society.” In the spirit of new media interactivity, NollyCulture also invites its already growing readership: “Bring your passion for Nollywood and Nigeria. Have your say. Express your opinions. Show some love. Agree. Disagree. But don’t hate on anybody.”

Good news for Nollywood. More of this.
